According to the ‘Future Workforce Demand Survey’ conducted by Youthall with the participation of university students and non-working graduates between the ages of 18-30 and business professionals, 73 percent of young people think that artificial intelligence engineering will be the first among the professions in 10 years.
Youthall announced the ‘Future Workforce Demand Survey Report’, which was prepared with the participation of young people who are just at the beginning of their careers and business professionals, who are preparing to draw their career path during the university preference period. A total of 543 people, including university students between the ages of 18-30, new graduates who are at the beginning of their careers, and professionals from the business world, participated in the research. 24.1% of the respondents were employees, and 75.7 percent were university students and graduates who are not currently working in any job.
The survey results bring together the professionals of the business world and young people in jobs focused on current technological trends when it comes to the professions of the future. While the respondents emphasized the importance of mastering technology in the workforce in an age where artificial intelligence and other technologies are rapidly advancing; It expects the business world to become competitive and sustainable with its ability to use digitalization and technology. This results in employers needing to increase digital competencies and adapt to new technologies. The changes in shopping and communication habits triggered by the global epidemic are also stated as another important factor in bringing these competencies to the fore. While technological advances affect consumer behavior and business practices, the importance of experts who can adapt to these changes is increasing.
73.5 percent of the youth see high salary and earning potential as a priority in their current career choices. 87% consider choosing a profession that is both profitable today and focused on potential growth and earning opportunities in the future. This result reveals that besides the financial expectations of the participants, they attach importance to choosing a suitable profession for personal satisfaction and development. This shows that young people care about financial stability and consider opportunities for growth and advancement in their future careers.
Artificial intelligence comes first
28.5 percent of the youth said, “If you were making a choice today or if you had the chance to choose a different profession, which profession would you choose?” answers the question “artificial intelligence expertise”. It is followed by “data analyst/data scientist” with 15.6 percent, “digital marketing expertise” with 12 percent, “renewable energy expertise” with 11 percent and “e-commerce expertise” with 9.5 percent. These answers prove that young people consider potential future opportunities in their career choice.
The survey also determines which competencies will emerge in the business world in the future. According to 72 percent of the professionals surveyed, “creativity and innovation” will be the most important competency choice in the business world in the future. Other competencies that will be prioritized in the business world are “problem solving/decision making ability”, “adaptation/adaptation to change” and “critical thinking/analysis”.
In the study, young people’s perspectives on the future of their profession were also examined. More than a third of the youth surveyed (38.4 percent) are concerned about their future careers. These concerns are associated with uncertainties about how the business world will shape in the future and how viable current occupations will be. The rate of those who are not worried about their future is 34.3 percent, while the rate of those who are undecided remains at 27.3 percent.
According to the answers given by the business professionals who participated in the survey, “printing and publishing” is one of the professions that will lose their existence in today’s rapidly developing environment. While 18.2 percent think that the existence of the “printing and publishing” field will decrease, 16 percent agree that with the change in our consumption and shopping habits, developing technology will eliminate employment in the “sales” field. 15.2 percent predict that the presence of the “Manufacturing and production” field will decrease with the increase in the use of automation and robotic systems in the industry and manufacturing sector.
The business world cares about operational and managerial competencies
The survey also identified the areas that are most needed in recruitment this year, from the perspective of the business world. According to the answers given; 34.8 percent of the participants state that there is a need for an “operation & management” area. 28 percent say that they are looking for a workforce in the fields of “marketing” and “digital marketing”, 25 percent in “sales”, and 24.2 percent in “big data and business analytics”. These rates indicate that the business world still attaches great importance to operational and managerial competencies. In addition, while the need in marketing and sales fields draws attention, it reveals that today employers are especially interested in qualified candidates in these fields and the demand for these positions is high.
74.2 percent of the business world attaches importance to communication and cooperation skills in recruitment
According to the answers of the professionals who participated in the survey, the most important qualification considered in recruitment today is “communication and collaboration skills” with 74.2 percent. 70.5 percent of business professionals adopt “problem solving and decision making ability” as a critical element, while 53 percent define “adaptation and adaptability” as an indispensable quality.
“Young people give important messages to the business world with their career choices”
Evaluating the Future Workforce Demand Survey Report, Youthall CEO Emre Aykan pointed out that the new world order created by technological developments is decisive in the career choices of the future, and said, “The survey we conducted for the university preference period; It shows that technology-oriented professions will be of great importance in the future and the field of artificial intelligence will continue to attract attention among young people. According to the survey, among the occupations of young people after 10 years; Keeping professions such as ‘sustainability specialist’, ‘renewable energy specialist’ and ‘robotic engineering’ in the first place after ‘artificial intelligence engineering’ gives important messages to the business world.
Pointing out that it is becoming more and more important to have the competencies that meet the expectations of the business world of the future, Aykan said: we observe. Considering that the concept of innovation is one of the priorities of the business world, being creative and innovative in the upcoming period will be a critical element for a successful career. However, having competencies such as problem solving, adaptation and critical thinking will provide great advantages to employees in order to be successful in the volatile and competitive environment of the business world.”
